Who is the Origin Lumbarcloud suitable for?
- Sleepers with a bad back or chronic joint conditions.
- People that sleep hot.
- Combo sleepers, including those who tend to move a lot.
- Couples that need a mattress with excellent edge support.
- Those looking for a hypoallergenic mattress that doesn’t lack quality.
What are the layers of this mattress?
This mattress has a sophisticated design that features 8 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- An Origin ComfortCloud Fiber layer that can sleep cool. It can also help the other layers to perform well.
- An HexaGrid Plus layer that is designed to further enhance joint comfort.
- A Graphite Diamond latex layer that is the core of this mattress’ cooling system.
- A bamboo-infused wool layer that adds comfort. It’s made with organic materials and allows airflow.
- An Ergocoil Maxmicrospring layer that is responsive and can provide you with tailored joint support.
- A cooling comfort foam layer that connects the mini springs with the pocket springs. It features an open-cell structure that allows airflow.
- A ComfortPlus Titanium Springs layer that can distribute weight evenly. The springs form 7 zones for optimal support.
- A D-4 Edge Support layer that is made of dense foam. This improves durability and of course edge support.
The Origin LumbarCloud mattress is a thick one, measuring 33cm in height. The image below shows how it looks from the inside.
Does it have a nice cover?
The cover of this mattress is made of IceSilk tencel fabric and it’s one of the best I have seen. I remind you that Tencel is made of wood pulp and it’s an eco-friendly material. Moreover, it’s breathable and it’s naturally hypoallergenic.
The design is a modern one and it’s quite similar to the one they use for their Origin Hybrid Pro mattress. It features a white top part that is combined with a dark blue side part. On the sides, you will find 4 handles that will help you move this mattress. Unfortunately, this is not a removable cover and in my opinion, it’s the only drawback here. Overall, this is a fantastic mattress cover that works great.
Is this a firm mattress?
It’s time to continue with this Origin LumbarCloud mattress review and discuss its feel. During the design process, the people at Origin wanted to create a mattress for those suffering from chronic back & joint conditions. For this reason, this is a medium-firm mattress and if I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.5 with 10 being really firm. I want to talk now about my experience with it for the past week.
Lying on my back, the mattress distributed my weight evenly and that took the pressure away from my joints. Support was excellent and I was comfortable sleeping this way.
Turning to the side position, the spring layers adjusted quickly which helped my spine to align correctly. There was no discomfort in my hip and shoulder areas and I was well supported.
Finally, turning to the stomach position, the mattress managed to support my chest and hips. This made me feel quite comfortable and I enjoyed sleeping this way. As a result, I can say that this mattress is suitable for every sleeping position.
The way this mattress is made ensures that it has excellent edge support and during my time with it, I felt that this is true. Moreover, the micro springs minimize motion transfer so you won’t disturb your partner. That means that the Origin LumbarCloud mattress will suit couples.
Does this mattress sleep cool?
The LumbarCloud mattress is designed to sleep cool and it’s made with high-tech materials. To begin with, the IceSilk tencel cover ensures that the sleeping surface will remain cool during the night. Secondly, at the core of the mattress, the graphite latex layer does the job of regulating the temperature and is the brain of the cooling system. Finally, the tall pocket springs ensure that airflow is abundant. The combination works very efficiently and this mattress is definitely suitable to the Australian climate.
How much will I pay for delivery?
If you buy an Origin mattress, you will get free delivery countrywide. The good news is that if you live in Metro areas (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney & Perth) your order will be delivered within the next day if ordered before 13:50 (AEST). For the rest of the areas, the maximum waiting time is 8 working days but this only applies to remote cities.
I remind you that I am based in Sydney so my mattress arrived the following day. The box was slightly damaged but that was not a real problem. Communication was excellent and the whole process was very smooth. The courier helped me place the mattress inside my living room as it’s quite a heavy one. Overall, their service was great so no complaints at all.
Is there a way to try it at home?
Getting a mattress online can always feel a bit risky but the people at Origin are here to help you out. When you buy a mattress from them, you will get a 120-night trial period that allows you to try this mattress for 4 months before you decide whether you want to keep it or not. If you are not happy with your purchase, Origin will take the mattress back and give you a full refund. The process is free and all returned mattresses are donated to local charities.
Furthermore, every Origin mattress comes with a 15-year warranty that will have you covered for a really long time. Their FAQ page has more details on that. This is one of the longest policies in Australia and overall, this is a complete support package here.
How much does it cost?
The Origin LumbarCloud is a premium mattress but that doesn’t mean that you are going to spend a fortune to get it. The smaller size (Single) sells for $1,999 with the bigger one (King) going for $2,699. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
SIZE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |
Single | 92 x 188 x 33cm | $1,999 |
Super Single | 107 x 203 x 33cm | $2,199 |
Double | 138 x 188 x 33cm | $2,299 |
Queen | 153 x 203 x 33cm | $2,499 |

Should I consider the Origin LumbarCloud mattress?
I am ready to complete this Origin LumbarCloud mattress review and share my final thoughts with you. In my opinion, this would be a great fit for those looking for:
- A hybrid mattress designed for chronic joint and back pain.
- A premium mattress that has an excellent cooling system.
- A mattress that comes with a 15-year warranty.
Origin managed to create a fantastic option here and the impressive part is that it comes with an affordable price tag. It’s designed to help those with a bad back but also hot sleepers. If you are looking for a well-rounded mattress, this should be among your top choices.
Alternatives to consider
If you are wondering what else you could buy, there are two cheaper alternatives for this mattress. The first one is the Onebed X mattress which follows a similar design philosophy. This is another hybrid option that is designed to suit all sleeping positions. It has a similar feel and it’s a well-balanced mattress. The good news is that Onebed offers a great support package so you will get a 15-year warranty and a 125-night trial. The main difference is the cover and the Origin Lumbarcloud has the edge here as it features a tencel cover with handles. Having said that, they are both great options.
If you want a second one, the Origin Hybrid Pro mattress should also be on your list. This is another high-quality mattress that won’t disappoint. It’s also built for all sleeping positions and it comes with a breathable tencel cover that will keep this mattress cool. The price difference is a significant one and a queen size will cost you 40% less. Of course, their performance is not exactly the same but the Origin Hybrid Pro is a value-for-money mattress that will cover most of your needs.
