Back in the day, I thought that beds were all about design. Later in my life, I realised that beds can affect the performance of our mattresses so everyone should have this in mind. In this Origin Upholstered Bed frame review, I am exploring this new option from the German brand.
As you know already, I am a big fan of their Origin Hybrid mattress so I was curious to try this frame too. What impressed me here is the fact it comes with a fantastic support package that includes a 120-night trial period, a 10-year warranty and free delivery. All of these made my decision way easier so I went and ordered mine almost two weeks ago. For the past ten days, I have been sleeping on it so it’s about time I write this review.
Construction
One of the main strengths of this brand is that they make high-quality products. This frame is no exception and it’s made with solid Canadian timber wood. This is a durable material so you should expect this frame to last for a long time.
To ensure great performance, the engineers at Origin decided to use FlexiSlats. This is a great support system that is designed to add comfort and prevent mattress sagging. According to the maker, this bed frame has a creak-free design but I guess I have to spend way more time with it to see if this is a valid statement. Overall, this is a well-made bed that impressed me with its quality.
Design
If you want to add a luxury touch to your bedroom, the Upholstered bed might be ideal for you. It features a creme plush headboard that looks very elegant and classy. On the sides of the frame, you will find the same plush material which is combined with beautiful wooden legs.
What is great about it is that it’s very easy to assemble and this will only take you around 5 minutes. I have to mention here that you don’t need any tools but it would be useful if you have someone else to help you out. Overall, this is a beautiful piece of furniture but it won’t suit all bedrooms. I would say for sure that is not as versatile as the Origin Wooden bed.
Support
Although most problems with support come from a bad mattress, there is a good chance that this can be caused by a low-quality bed frame. As a result, you need to make sure that you have the right foundation for your mattress so it can perform at its best. The Origin Upholstered bed is very sturdy and when combined with the FlexiSlats system, the result is great. I used it with my Origin Hybrid mattress and I felt that it performed better when compared to my old IKEA bed frame. This is very important and it shows that this frame is not only about looks but also performance.
Pricing
The Upholstered bed frame is available in 5 sizes so you have plenty of options to choose from. The smaller size (Single) sells for $1,079 with the bigger one (King) going for $1,449. Having said that this is a brand that runs frequent promotions so you will probably pay less than the retail price. For instance, at the moment of writing a Queen bed frame would only cost you $1,329. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
SIZE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |
Single | 188 x 92cm | $1,079 |
King Single | 203 x 107cm | $1,189 |
Double | 188 x 138cm | $1,249 |
Queen | 203 x 153cm | $1,329 |
King | 203 x 183cm | $1,449 |
Verdict
The time has come now to complete this Origin Upholstered bed frame review and discuss whether it’s an option you should consider. This is a well-made piece of furniture that has an elegant and classy design. Besides the looks, it features a great slat system that can improve the performance of your mattress. All of these make it an interesting choice and one that I can recommend.
