Many sleepers prefer mattresses with a firmer feel, mainly looking for better posture. In this Ecosa Align Firm mattress review, I talk about this interesting new option that might be Ecosa’s new bestseller.
To create a really firm mattress, the engineers at Ecosa decided to develop a hybrid design that combines latex foam with pocket springs but more on that layer. After having reviewed the Ecosa Pure mattress, I was really keen to try this out too. My Align Firm mattress arrived almost a week ago so let’s move to the full review below.
This mattress features 4 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
A Dunlop latex foam layer that is designed to isolate motion and provide your body with the needed pressure relief. To increase its breathability, the people at Ecosa have drilled pincore holes in it.
A convoluted wave foam layer that can distribute weight evenly. This is designed to take the pressure off demanding areas like your hips and shoulders.
A layer made of heavy-duty pocket springs. These will provide your body with support and are responsible for the firm feel of this mattress.
A Hard Felt foam layer that protects the pocket springs and adds some support.
The mattress measures 20cm in height so it’s not a thick one. I have to mention here that all foams used here are CertiPUR-US certified so they don’t contain any harmful substances. The image below gives us a better view of how this mattress looks from the inside.
Does it come with a good cover?
The cover of this mattress is made of a Tencel blend. This is a great choice as Tencel is a material that has some interesting properties. For starters, Tencel is eco-friendly as it’s made from wood pulp. Secondly, this is a breathable material so air can pass through it. Finally, Tencel is hypoallergenic so it’s suitable for sensitive skin. On the sides of the cover, they have added a 3D mesh panel that allows the mattress to breathe with ease. This is a clever system that does the trick.
The good news is that they have also added 4 side handles which make it way easier to move it whenever that is needed. However, this is not a very heavy mattress so you will move it with ease. Unfortunately, the cover is not removable so you can only spot-clean it if you get it dirty. This is the main drawback here but overall, this is a high-quality cover that sleeps cool.
How firm is this mattress?
Let’s continue with this Ecosa Align Firm mattress review and discuss its feel. As I have mentioned before, this is a really firm mattress and if I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s an 8 with 10 being really firm. I would like now to talk about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress performed in the past week.
Starting from the back position, the mattress felt really firm but I didn’t feel that it was uncomfortable. I was well-supported and my spinal alignment was correct.
Turning to the side position, sinkage was not enough for a proper spinal alignment so I felt that this mattress was not ideal for side sleepers. Support remained good and I didn’t feel any discomfort on my hips.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, the Align Firm mattress did a fantastic job. The mattress managed to support my hips and shoulders so I think that it’s ideal for front sleepers.
As for the edge support, this mattress is a solid construction so you can get in and out of bed with ease. Moreover, there is some motion transfer but nothing that will bother you too much. That means that it’s suitable for couples.
Do I have to pay for delivery?
One of the things that annoy me when I shop is to pay for delivery. The good news is that all Ecosa mattresses come with free metro delivery. This includes the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. For Non-Metro areas delivery is also free but if you live in more remote areas, there might be a flat delivery cost of $175.
Depending on your location, delivery can take between 1-7 working days which is not bad at all. I live in Sydney so my mattress came within 2 working days. The process was smooth and I was frequently updated about the status of my order. The box arrived in mint condition and it wasn’t hard to move it to the room of my choice. Overall, I was happy with their service so no complaints at all.
What if I don’t like this mattress?
Many people don’t feel comfortable buying a mattress online but the good news is that if you buy from Ecosa, you will get a 100-night trial period that allows you to try this at home. Returns are free so if you are not happy with your purchase, you have the right to return it and get your money back. Moreover, all Ecosa mattresses come with a 15-year guarantee which is one of the longest in Australia. Of course, before you buy a mattress, it would be wise to read the full warranty policy so you know what is covered. Overall, this is a great package, especially if we consider the price here.
Is this an expensive option?
The Ecosa Align Firm mattress is available in 6 sizes so you have plenty of options to choose from. It’s an affordable mattress and the smaller size (Single) will cost you $700 with the bigger one (Super King) going for $1,475. However, the people at Ecosa run frequent promotions so I paid only $800 for a Queen mattress. The table below features all the available sizes and their prices.
188 x 92 x 20cm
203 x 107 x 20cm
188 x 138 x 20cm
203 x 153 x 20cm
