Many sleepers are looking for a customisable sleeping experience so if you fall into this category, you should read this Origin Quantum mattress review. Launching back in 2018, Origin is a German brand that has seen great success operating in Australia.
The Quantum mattress is their latest release and it features a clever system that allows you to easily change the feel of the mattress. This is another hybrid option from them and as you expect these days, it will come packed inside a carton box. My mattress was delivered almost 10 days ago so it’s a good time now to move to the full review below.
The Quantum mattress features 5 layers plus the cover. In detail these are:
A DuoFlex comfort layer that is designed for deep pressure relief and support. It has two sides, one medium and one medium-firm. All you have to do is ‘flip it and zip it’ to choose between the two options.
A cooling-gel memory foam layer that has the ability to regulate your body’s heat.
A graphite foam layer that is designed to minimise motion transfer. This allows couples to sleep better.
A pocket spring layer that will provide your body with tailored support. The engineers at Origin designed a 7-zone system that can individually support the different parts of your body.
All layers are packed inside a high-density encasing that keeps them all together. This significantly improves edge support and the overall performance of this mattress.
This Origin mattress measures 27cm in height so it has a medium profile. All foams used here comply with the CertiPUR-US Standards so they are free from any harmful substances.
Is this a good cover?
The cover of this mattress is one of the best things about it. It’s made of a Tencel and Bamboo fibre blend that works great. This blend is very breathable and it has the ability to wick moisture away. Moreover, it’s naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial which makes it ideal for sleepers with sensitive skin. Finally, Tencel and Bamboo are eco-friendly materials and Origin shows here its sustainable face.
The cover comes with a pillow top plush layer that adds extra comfort. The design is a very modern one and I personally love it. It features light grey sides with blue details and a white top part. Overall, Origin did a fantastic job here and this is a great cover.
Is this a firm mattress?
It’s time now to continue with this Origin Quantum mattress review and talk about its feel. One of the main reasons you should buy this mattress is the fact it comes with adjustable firmness. The upper layer can be unzipped and you can flip it to change the feel according to your needs. The first side comes with a medium feel and the second side comes with a medium-firm feel. For this review, I tried the medium-firm side so let’s move below to see how it performed in the different sleeping positions.
Starting from the back position, the mattress hugged my body and the pillow top made me feel really comfortable in this position. Support was great and the mattress promoted a correct spine alignment.
Turning to the side position, the pocket springs reacted quickly and that was impressive. The pillow top made sure I didn’t feel any discomfort in the hips area and I felt well supported.
Finally, moving to the front position, the mattress did a good job with my hips and chest and I was comfortable in this position. Although I usually prefer firmer mattresses for this position, I felt that the Quantum mattress did a good job here and overall, this is a great all-rounder.
If you have a partner, this mattress is designed to minimise motion transfer so it’s a good option for couples. Additionally, it has excellent edge support and that means, you will get in and out of bed with ease.
How will it be delivered?
It’s already mentioned above that this mattress is a boxed one. That means that it will be delivered directly to your door inside a carton box. If you decide to buy one, you will get free delivery providing you live in mainland Australia. Delivery usually takes between 3-7 working days but that depends on your address. In my case, it was 4 days and I live in Sydney. After having placed my order, I was well informed about the whole process and the courier was prompt and polite. Overall, they offer great service and I had a good experience with them.
Can I try it first?
If you feel nervous about buying a mattress online, I have good news for you. The Quantum mattress comes with a 120-night trial period that gives you four full months to try it. If you are not happy with it, you can return it and get a full refund. Returns are free and you don’t have to keep the original packaging to be able to return your mattress. Besides that, you will also get a 15-year warranty that will cover you for a long time. As you see, this is one of the best packages in Australia and it shows how much they value their customers. Overall, the people at Origin did a great job here so no complaints at all.
How much will I pay for it?
The Origin Quantum mattress is available in 5 sizes so you have plenty of options to choose from. The smaller size (Single) will cost you $849 with the bigger size (King) going for $1,349. Having said that, Origin is a brand that runs frequent promotions so you will probably pay less than that. For instance, at the moment of writing there was $200 off promotion. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
92 x 188 x 27 cm
107 x 203 x 27 cm
138 x 188 x 27 cm
153 x 203 x 27 cm
183 x 203 x 27 cm
Should I buy this mattress?
I would like now to complete this Origin Quantum mattress review and share my final thoughts about it. In my opinion, this would be a good option for anyone looking for:
A hybrid mattress that is good for all sleeping positions.
An adjustable mattress that comes with 2 different firmness options.
A mattress that comes with a 15-year warranty.
If you look for all these, the Quantum mattress can be a great choice. The combination of an adjustable system with an excellent cooling mechanism is hard to find. Add the fair price and the fact this is a proper all-rounder and you have a winner here. Origin managed to improve an already great mattress and that is hard to go unnoticed.
