Noa is one of the most popular mattress makers in Australia and they have seen great success since they launched almost 3 years ago. After developing their first mattress, they decided to create two more. In this Noa Lite mattress review, I will talk about their budget-friendly proposition and whether it’s one you should consider.
As you expect, this is a rolled mattress so it will come packed in a box. Noa designed their mattresses in Canada but they built them in China. They decided to stick to their expertise so this is a hybrid mattress. That means that it combines memory foam with pocket springs. My Noa Lite mattress arrived about a month ago so I think it’s a good time now to move to the full review below.
What is a Noa Lite mattress made of?
The Noa Lite mattress is made of 4 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- A cooling gel memory foam layer that is there to provide your body with the needed pressure relief. It’s also designed to keep the sleeping surface cool during the night.
- An adaptive transition foam layer that is designed to eliminate motion transfer. This is clever as many hybrid mattresses are known to cause partner disturbance.
- A layer made of pocket springs which is also the base of this mattress. The springs will provide your body with the needed support. They are also designed to allow airflow so the mattress can breathe from the inside.
- A high-density foam encasement that is there to help with edge support. It’s 9cm thick and this is a feature that it’s only seen in high-end mattresses.

What is the cover made of?
The cover of the Noa Lite mattress is made of Tencel which is arguably one of the best materials out there. If you have never heard of it before, Tencel is made from wood pulp and it has a number of advantages. To begin with, it’s a highly breathable material that also has the ability to repel odours. Moreover, it’s naturally antibacterial and has anti-dust mite properties. Finally, Tencel dries very quickly and can regulate temperature very efficiently. All these reasons make it an excellent choice for a mattress cover.
The sleeping surface feels soft and it features a contemporary design. The upper part is white with the sides being grey. Overall, this is a high-quality cover and I think that Noa did an excellent job here.
Is the Noa Lite mattress a firm one?
Before I complete this Noa Lite mattress review, I need to talk about its feel. This mattress was designed to suit people who like a mattress on the firmer side. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say this is a 7.5 with 10 being really firm. This is definitely one of the firmer mattresses I have reviewed. I would like now to talk about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress performed.
Starting from the back position, the sleeping surface felt firm but in a good way. The pocket springs supported my body and my spine was aligned correctly. The mattress felt comfortable in this position and I didn’t feel stuck inside this mattress.
Turning to the side position, the springs adjusted quickly but I felt that sinkage was not enough for my spine to align properly. Firm mattresses are usually not ideal for this position and the Noa Lite falls into this category. Having said that, it wasn’t that bad but I think a softer mattress would do a better job here.
Finally, moving to the stomach position the mattress did an excellent job overall. The firm sleeping surface provided my body with excellent support and my spine was aligned properly. If you are a stomach sleeper, this is a mattress you should definitely consider.
If you have a partner, the Noa Lite can be a good option as the adaptive transition foam layer reduces motion transfer. Moreover, the edge support is great and this is due to the use of the foam encasement.
What type of bed should I use with this mattress?
You don’t need a special setup to use this mattress. Any flat surface that can support the mattress can be good. Having said that, I would advise you to use a slatted bed frame or a box spring. I wouldn’t advise you to use your floor as it’s not very hygienic and it doesn’t help with the airflow.
Is this a boxed mattress?
It’s already mentioned above that the Noa Lite is a rolled mattress so you should expect it in a carton box. They usually ship their mattresses within 3-7 business days but that is related to your postcode. If you live in the Metro areas you should expect this within 3-4 days. In my case, it was 4 business days as I live in Sydney. The whole process was very straightforward and I received all the relevant information via text and email. The courier was prompt and overall the service was good.
Will the Noa Lite mattress come with a trial period?
When you buy a Noa mattress, you will get a 100-night trial period which will give you plenty of time to try it out. If for any reason, you don’t feel satisfied with your purchase, you can return it and get a full refund. The process is not very complicated and all you have to do is talk to their customer service department. Besides that, you will also get a 15-year warranty which will cover you for a long time. This is amazing and Noa is the maker that offers the longest warranty in Australia! Overall, they offer a great package here so no complaints at all.
How much does it cost?
The Noa Lite is the most affordable mattress they sell. The smaller size (Single) sells for $849 with the bigger (King) going for $1,149. However, they run frequent promotions so you will very rarely pay these prices. For example, at the moment of writing, there was a ‘$400 off’ promotion which makes this one of the cheapest boxed mattresses in Australia.
