Felix Memory Foam Mattress Review

felix memory foam mattress review

In this Felix Memory Foam mattress review, I will talk about this value-for-money option that is designed for those who prefer a firmer feel. As you can imagine, this is another bed in a box and you can now buy it from Bedworks.

Felix is a memory foam mattress with great pressure-relieving properties but more on that later. They have seen great success in Australia so I was really keen to get my hands on it. Mine arrived about 3 weeks ago so it’s a good time now to move to the full review below.

What is a Felix mattress made of?

The Felix mattress features 4 layers plus the cover. These are:

The mattress measures 26cm in height and the image below showcases the position of each layer.

What is the cover made of?

The cover of the Felix mattress is made of a synthetic fabric that is very durable but also quite elastic. It’s made of 2 parts with the upper one having a soft touch and the bottom one featuring a mesh design that allows airflow. This is very clever and the people at Felix did a great job. The cover is removable and you can use your washing machine if you want to clean it. Make sure you use a gentle cycle at 40 degrees. The design of the cover is a modern one featuring a white and blue colourway. Overall, this is a decent cover that gets the job done and at this price point, I don’t expect more than that.

How firm is the Felix mattress?

It’s time to continue with this Felix Memory Foam mattress review and talk about its feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 7 with 10 being really firm. I would like now to talk about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress performed.

Starting from the back position, the mattress felt firm but in a supportive way. Pressure relief was adequate and I felt that the Felix mattress did a good job with my spine alignment.

Turning to the side position, the foam layers reacted quickly and sinkage increased. The mattress felt slightly firmer than I would prefer but I didn’t feel any discomfort near the hips area. Support was good but I would like a better spine alignment here.

Finally, turning to the stomach position, the Felix mattress did a great job and I felt well-supported. Pressure relief was great and I felt that this mattress is built for this position. Overall, I think it will suit mostly stomach and back sleepers but I wouldn’t say that it’s a bad option for side sleepers.

If you sleep with a partner, the foam-only construction means minimal motion transfer so this can be a good choice for couples. On the other hand, edge support is average but this is expected from a mattress of this kind.

What type of bed should I use with this mattress?

According to the maker, you can place your Felix mattress on any flat and firm surface. That means that you can use most base options including slats, box springs and platforms. I need to remind you here that if you use a slatted frame, you should make sure that the distance between each slat should not be longer than 7cm.

Is this a boxed mattress?

Felix is a rolled mattress so it will come packed in a carton box. If you buy from Bedworks, you will need to pay a delivery fee which is disappointing in my view. If you are in a hurry and you live in the Metro area, for a small fee, you can be eligible for next-day delivery. Their service is a good one so you should expect your mattress within 2-7 working days. In my case, it was 2 working days and I remind you that I live in Sydney. Communication was great and overall, I was really happy with their service but not happy that I had to pay for it.

Will the Felix mattress come with a trial period?

When you buy a Felix mattress, you will get a 100-night trial period that will give you plenty of time to try it and decide later whether you want to keep it or not. If for your reasons, you are not happy with it, you can return it and get a full refund. The process is not complicated and all you have to do is contact them and they will arrange everything. Besides that, you will get a 10-year guarantee that will cover you for a long time. Overall, this is a good package and it’s what we expect these days.

How much will it cost me?

This mattress is one of the most affordable mattresses you can find in Australia. It’s available in 6 sizes so you will definitely find the one that suits your needs. The smaller size (Single) sells for $1,199 with the bigger (Queen) going for $1,529. However, you won’t have to pay the full price as they run frequent promotions. For instance, at the moment of writing, there was a 40% off promotion. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.

Is the Felix mattress any good?

It’s time now to complete this Felix Memory Foam mattress review and share my final thoughts with you. I think that this mattress would be ideal for those looking for:

If you look for all the above characteristics, the Felix mattress can be an option you should consider. I personally liked the firmer feel but I understand this is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, if you are looking for a supportive memory foam mattress, Felix is fairly priced and it comes with good specs.
