Emma Luxe Mattress Review

emma luxe mattress review

The Australian summer can get really hot so getting a cooling mattress is always a good idea. In this Emma Luxe mattress review, I talk about this updated version of a mattress that has seen great success over the years.

Awarded “Best Cooling Mattress” for 2024

Emma has an extensive mattress range that also includes the new Emma Luxe Pro mattress. When designing the Luxe one, the target was to create a mattress with advanced cooling properties. For this reason, they have used high-tech materials but more on that later. I decided to get mine two weeks ago so it’s time now to move to the full review below.

Who is the Emma Luxe mattress suitable for?

What is this mattress made of?

This mattress features 5 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:

The Luxe mattress measures 27cm in height so you should expect a medium profile. The picture below gives us a better look at how this mattress looks from the inside.

Does this mattress have a nice cover?

This mattress comes with a fantastic cover that is made with UltraDry fabric. It’s extremely breathable and it has the ability to regulate heat. That means that during the summer you will sleep cool which is very important when you live in Australia. The good news is that it’s a removable cover and if you want to clean it, you can use your washing machine.

The design is the typical Emma one so you should expect a grey side part and a white top part. On the sides, you will find 4 handles that make it easier to move when that is needed. Finally, at the bottom, there is an anti-slip base for extra stability. Overall, this is a functional cover that has all the right elements.

Is this a firm mattress?

I want to continue writing this Emma Luxe mattress review and talk about its firmness. This is actually the softest mattress that I have tried and it comes with a medium-soft feel. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 4.5 with 10 being really firm. Let’s talk now about my experience with it in the past two weeks.

Lying on my back, the mattress felt soft but I didn’t feel that I was sinking into it. That made it super comfortable but my body was well-supported.

Turning to the side position, my spinal alignment was correct and there was no discomfort in the hip area. This was expected from a medium-soft mattress and I felt very comfortable sleeping this way.

Finally, turning to the stomach position this mattress surprised me. Despite being quite soft, I felt that it supported my hips and shoulders so it wasn’t uncomfortable. As a result, I can say that this is a true all-rounder and it will suit every sleeping position.

For those who share their bed with a partner, the edge support is good thanks to the Infinity springs. That will allow you to use the whole sleeping surface. Additionally, motion transfer is minimal so you won’t disturb each other during sleep.

Does this mattress sleep cool?

When designing the Luxe mattress, the people at Emma had one priority. To create a mattress that sleeps cool! And the truth is that they have fully achieved that. This mattress is made with the latest technology and it features multiple cooling layers (ThermoSync, Aerofoam etc.) Add an UltraDry cover and tall pocket springs and you have the blueprint of how a cooling mattress should be designed.

Will I pay for delivery?

If you order a mattress from Emma, you will get free delivery and you should expect your mattress within 0-7 working days. Of course, if you live in a Metro Area (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide) you might be eligible for same-day delivery! All you have to do is place your order before 10 am and you will get it between 2-6 pm. Otherwise, your mattress will be delivered within 1-3 business days. As I have mentioned earlier, the mattress will be packed inside a carton box and you have to let it decompress for a few hours before you can use it.

How can I try it before I buy it?

One of the main reasons that customers don’t want to buy a mattress online is that they cannot try it out. Emma understands that and for this reason, they offer a 150-night trial period that allows you to try it at home. You actually have around 5 months and if you don’t like it, you can return it and get a full refund. Returns are free and they will arrange everything for you.

Moreover, all Emma mattresses come with a 10-year warranty which is the standard for all these boxed mattresses. That will cover you for a long time but for all the details, you should read the full terms and conditions. Overall, this is a complete package here so no complaints from my side.

How much will I pay for it?

The Luxe mattress is available in 5 sizes so you have plenty of options to choose from. The smaller size (Single) sells for $1,950 while the bigger one (King) goes for $3,260. Having said that, Emma is a brand that runs frequent promotions so you will definitely pay less than the retail price. For instance, at the moment of writing this post, a Queen size mattress was sold for $1,700. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.

Alternatives to consider

Another great but more expensive option is the Dusk & Dawn Signature mattress. It’s made with the latest technology (Dusk-Air Tech) which offers increased airflow and breathability. Moreover, it can eliminate odours and protect against microbial. Other than that, the Signature mattress is suitable for all sleeping positions and it has excellent weight distribution. It also has excellent edge support and it’s a mattress that can accommodate a couple with ease. Of course, a premium mattress like the Dusk & Dawn Signature couldn’t come without a premium service so if you order one, you will get a 100-day trial and a 10-year warranty. If you have the budget for it, this can be a perfect option.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to spend more, you can consider the Origin Hybrid Pro mattress. This also comes with a fantastic cooling system that won’t disappoint even during the hottest summer days. Other than that, it’s a mattress that can provide your body with plenty of support and pressure relief. The key here is the HexaGrid Plus layer which outperforms commonly used materials like latex and memory foam. The Hybrid Pro is designed for all sleeping positions and it’s one of the most versatile options you can buy in Australia. Add a great support package here and this is one of the most compelling options out there.
