Deep Dream Green Tea Mattress Review

If you look for a value for money option, you should definitely read my Deep Dream Green Tea mattress review. This is a new brand with the mission to redefine the Australian mattress industry. After seeing great success with the Deep Dream Premium mattress, they decided to release a similar mattress that is geared towards allergy sufferers.

All Deep Dream mattresses are boxed ones and they will be delivered directly to your door. I got mine almost a week ago so let’s move now to the full review below.

What is this mattress made of?

The Deep Dream Green Tea mattress features 5 layers plus the cover. These are:

  • A body-contouring foam layer that is designed to promote a healthy spinal alignment. This is the first supportive layer.
  • A cool gel memory foam layer that will keep the sleeping surface cool during the night. This layer will provide your body with the needed pressure relief.
  • A second body contouring foam layer that is identical to the one on top.
  • A high resilience foam layer that is infused with Green Tea. This layer can wick away the excess moisture and naturally combat bacteria and odours.
  • A layer made of pocket springs that features a 5-zoned system. This is designed to distribute weight evenly and provide your body with tailored support.

This mattress measures 36cm in height and the image below showcases how it looks from the inside. All materials used here comply with the CertiPUR-US standards so they are safe for human use.

Is this a good cover?

When making this mattress, they decided to add an organic cotton cover that is designed to sleep cool. This cover comes with the OEKO TEX 100 label which means that it’s free from any harmful chemicals. That makes it ideal for those with sensitive skin or allergy sufferers. The cover feels of great quality and I really liked its texture. The design is a contemporary one and it comes in a dark green colour. Unfortunately, this is not machine washable so make sure you spot-clean it when this is needed. Overall, this is a high-quality cover so no complaints at all.

How firm is the Green Tea mattress?

Let’s continue now with this Deep Dream Green Tea mattress review and discuss its feel. This is a mattress that comes with a medium feel and if I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 5.5 with 10 being really firm. Let’s talk now about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress performed.

firmness scale

Starting from the back position, as usual, the mattress felt really comfortable and the zoned system did a good job distributing my weight evenly. Support was great and the mattress provided my body with the needed pressure relief.

Moving to the side position, the mattress adjusted to my weight and sinkage increased. The pocket springs did a good job and my spine alignment was correct. The sleeping surface didn’t cause any discomfort in my hip area which was expected from a medium mattress like this one.

Finally, turning to the front position, the Green Tea mattress felt soft for this position and I wasn’t comfortable sleeping this way. This is something I expected from a mattress that comes with such a firmness profile.

As for the edge support, you should expect an average one but at this price point, it’s hard to complain about such things. If you are a couple, the motion transfer is minimal so this can be a good choice for you.

Is this a boxed mattress?

As I have already mentioned, this is a boxed mattress and it will be delivered directly to your door. If you live in a Metro area like me, delivery is free. In all other cases, there will be a small delivery fee. The Deep Dream mattress range is sold through Lifely so you should expect fast service. Delivery times are usually 5-8 working days and in my case, it was 5 days. The whole process was smooth and I was informed about the whole process via email. Overall, they offer great service so no complaints at all.

Can I try this mattress before I buy it?

One of the main weaknesses of this mattress is the lack of a trial period. This is quite disappointing, especially for a boxed mattress like this one. I assume that they went this way to reduce the cost but I believe they should cut costs elsewhere.

The good news is that this mattress comes with a 20-year warranty which is probably the longest in Australia. This is great as most other makers offer a 10-year warranty. Despite that, this is not a complete package and hopefully, Deep Dream will add a trial period in the near future.

Is this an expensive mattress?

Deep Dream is a value-for-money brand so you won’t pay much to get the Green Tea mattress. The smaller size (King Single) costs $459 with the bigger (King) going for $839. The table below features all the available sizes and their prices.

SIZEDIMENSIONSPRICE
King Single203 x 107 x 36cm$459
Double188 x 137 x 36cm$639
Queen203 x 153 x 36cm$739

Should I buy this mattress?

It’s time now to complete this Deep Dream Green Tea mattress review and share my final thoughts with you. In my opinion, this is a great choice for anyone looking for:

  • A hybrid mattress with a medium feel that is designed for comfort.
  • A value-for-money mattress that is great for allergy sufferers.
  • A mattress that comes with a 20-year warranty.

If you are looking for all of these, the Green Tea mattress should be high on your list. In my view, it’s a better choice when compared to the Premium one and I would spend the extra dollars to get it.
