If you are looking for a value-for-money option, you should read this Origin Hybrid Pro mattress review. This is the latest release from the popular German maker and it’s definitely an exciting one.
My first experience with this brand was when I ordered my Origin Hybrid mattress and I felt that this was money well-spent. A few weeks ago, I came across the Pro Hybrid mattress and I was really curious to see what they have done with this more premium release. Mine was delivered almost a week ago so it’s a good time to move to the full review below.

Who is the Origin Hybrid Pro suitable for?
- People who are looking for a mattress with excellent weight distribution.
- Couples that seek a mattress with good edge support.
- Sleepers who tend to get hot during the night.
- People with a bad back that need good levels of pressure relief.
- Those who look for a hypoallergenic option.
What is this mattress made of?
The Origin Hybrid Pro mattress features 7 layers plus the cover. These are:
- A graphite crystal latex layer that has the ability to transfer heat to deeper levels. That helps the sleeping surface to stay cool during the night.
- An HexaGrid comfort layer that is kind to your joints. It has excellent pressure-relieving properties which can reduce pain.
- A natural wool layer that has a dual role. It can provide your body with support but also regulate heat efficiently.
- An Ergocoil mini-spring layer for both comfort and support.
- A cooling memory foam layer that has the ability to absorb motion. This will eliminate the annoying partner disturbance.
- An Ergocoil spring layer that features a 7-zone system. This can provide different parts of your body with optimal support.
- A D-3 edge support perimeter that makes it way easier to get in and out of bed.
The picture below gives us a better look at how this mattress looks from the inside. The Hybrid Pro measures 30.5cm in height so it will remind you of a hotel-style mattress. All foams used here are CertiPUR-US certified so they are free from toxic substances.
Does it come with a nice cover?
This mattress is built for the Australian weather so it has to breathe well. For this reason, they decided to use a Polar Silk Tencel cover that allows airflow and can regulate heat very efficiently. If you read my reviews, you already know that Tencel is one of my favourite materials as it’s an eco-friendly option that combines durability with breathability.
The design is a modern one and the mattress features a white top and dark grey sides. The bad news is that this is not a removable cover so you cannot machine-wash it. That means that you can only spot-clean it whenever it is needed. The cover feels soft and it features a pillow top. That adds extra comfort and a more premium character. Overall, this is a fantastic cover so no complaints at all.
Is this a firm mattress?
I would like now to continue writing this Origin Hybrid Pro mattress review and talk about its feel. This is another medium-firm mattress and it’s designed to suit most sleepers. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 6.7 with 10 being really firm. It’s time now to talk about my experience with it during the past week.
Starting from the back position, the mattress helped my spine to align correctly and I felt well-supported. This took away the pain from my back and pressure relief was great.
Turning to the side position, the springs adjusted rapidly and I felt no discomfort in the hip and shoulder area. Sinkage was ideal and that allowed my spine to align properly.
Finally, moving to the stomach position, I felt comfortable despite the fact that this is not a firm mattress. My hips and shoulders were well-supported and I felt that the Origin Hybrid Pro mattress could suit every sleeping position.
If you share your bed with your partner, the support perimeter improves edge support so you will get the same performance across the four corners. Moreover, the mattress is designed to minimise motion transfer so most likely, you won’t disturb your partner during sleep.
Does this mattress have a good cooling system?
The Origin Hybrid Pro mattress is built for the Australian climate and it sleeps cool. From top to bottom, all layers in this mattress have some sort of cooling technology that works efficiently. The cover is made of PolarSilk tencel, a material that is breathable and cooling to the touch. Underneath that, the latex and bamboo foam layers are infused with graphite crystals and cooling gel particles. These add cooling properties and help the mattress regulate temperature. Finally, the tall pocket springs allow the mattress to breathe. The whole mechanism works great and the Hybrid Pro is a great choice for hot sleepers.
Will I pay for delivery?
One thing that we all hate is paying for delivery. The good news is that Origin offers a free delivery service for all of Australia. It’s a relatively fast service and you will get your mattress within 1-10 days. That of course depends on your region. For example, I live in Sydney and I got my mattress within 3 days. The box arrived in great condition and the courier was very polite. I received both emails and texts about the whole process which was really smooth. Once you unpack the mattress, you should let it expand for a few hours before you use it. However, it will need 48 hours to fully inflate. Overall, this is a great service and the people at Origin did a great job here.
Is there a trial period?
Buying a mattress online can feel a bit risky and the people at Origin are fully aware of that. For this reason, they offer a 120-night trial period that gives you 4 months to try this mattress. If you are not happy with it, you have the right to return it and they will give you your money back. That makes it a risk-free purchase so you shouldn’t hesitate to order from this brand.
Moreover, all Origin mattresses come with a 15-year warranty that will cover you for a long time. This is one of the longest policies in Australia and it shows how much they value their customers. Overall, this is a fantastic package so no complaints at all.
How much does it cost?
The Origin Hybrid Pro mattress is available in 5 sizes and although it’s a premium mattress, it comes with an affordable price tag. The smaller size (Single) will cost you $1,249 while the bigger one (King) goes for $1,999. This is a great deal here and it’s impressive that this mattress comes at a fair price. The table below has pricing information for all available sizes.
SIZE | DIMENSIONS | PRICE |
Single | 92 x 188 x 30.5cm | $1,249 |
King Single | 107 x 203 x 30.5cm | $1,499 |
Double | 138 x 188 x 30.5cm | $1,629 |
Queen | 153 x 203 x 30.5cm | $1,879 |
King | 183 x 203 x 30.5cm | $1,999 |
Is the Origin Hybrid Pro mattress a good option?
Everyone wants me to answer this question before I complete this Origin Hybrid Pro mattress review. In my opinion, this can be a great option for those looking for:
- A hybrid mattress that can suit every sleeping position.
- A mattress that will last for a long time and comes with a 15-year warranty.
If all of these sound good to you, this is definitely an option that you should consider. Origin managed to build a premium mattress here that comes with an affordable price tag and this is hard to achieve. This is a truly versatile mattress that I can recommend.
Alternatives to consider
Another great mattress that will cost you about the same is the Emma Comfort II mattress. This is another hybrid option here but the main difference is that it comes with a softer feel. That means that it can offer higher levels of comfort and is better suited to side sleepers. Other than that, the Emma Comfort II is well-balanced and has an efficient cooling system. Moreover, it has great edge support so it’s suitable for couples. Add a 100-night trial period and a 10-year warranty and it’s easy to understand why this mattress is such a best-seller.
If you want to spend less, the obvious choice is the Origin Hybrid mattress. This is a slimmed-down version of the Hybrid Pro mattress so you should expect similar performance for far less money. The main difference is that the Pro version is slightly more comfortable and supportive but it’s also made with more premium materials. Other than that, the differences are minimal and despite the big difference in price, both mattresses come with identical service and support packages.
