What is this mattress made of?
This mattress features 3 layers plus the cover. In detail, these are:
- A FirmCore™ High-density foam layer that can contour your body during sleep. It’s designed to reduce pressure points so your spine and joints get a proper rest.
- A layer made of 2,500 pocket springs that form 3 zones for optimised support.
- A layer made of higher tensile steel springs along the edges. This will allow you to get in and out of bed with ease and massively improve edge support.
The mattress measures 28cm in height, so you should expect a medium profile. The picture below gives us a better look at the position of each layer.
Does it come with a good cover?
Although this is an affordable mattress, it comes with a high-quality cover that is made of Tencel. This is a great material for a cover as it has a number of properties that are quite useful. Tencel is very breathable, which helps the mattress stay cool during the night. Moreover, it’s naturally hypoallergenic, so this mattress is suitable for allergy sufferers. Finally, Tencel is an eco-friendly material that is made from wood pulp.
The design is a modern one featuring black sides and a white top part. On the sides, you will find 4 handles that will help you move this mattress with more ease. Unfortunately, the cover is not removable, so you cannot machine-wash it. Other than that, I didn’t find any weakness here, and this is a cover that impressed me.
Is this a firm mattress?
It’s time to continue with this Sleep Republic ES mattress review and talk about its feel. This is a medium-firm mattress, but it sits towards the firmer side of things. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say it’s a 7.5 with 10 being really firm. It’s time now to talk about my experience with it during the past week.
Starting from the back position, the mattress felt very supportive, and this is something I expected from this mattress. Pressure relief was decent, and I felt comfortable sleeping this way.
Turning to the side position, the springs adjusted quickly, and this helped my spine to align correctly. Sinkage increased, and there was no discomfort in my hips or shoulders. The sleeping surface was a bit firm for this position, and I felt that their Original mattress did a better job in this position.
Finally, moving to the front position, the mattress felt ideal as its firmness is designed for this position. The ES mattress supported my hips and shoulders, and I felt very comfortable sleeping this way.
This mattress is a solid construction, so you should expect great edge support. That means getting in and out of bed will be an easy task. Furthermore, its springs are designed to minimise motion transfer, so if you sleep with a partner, you won’t disturb each other.
Do they offer free delivery?
These days, no one wants to pay for delivery, and the good news is that all Sleep Republic mattresses are delivered for free. What is even better is that if you live in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, you are eligible for free next-day delivery. To get that, you have to place your order before 2 pm. For the rest of Australia, delivery usually takes between 3-7 working days. I also have to mention here that if you live in a remote area, delivery can take up to 14 days, but that is absolutely normal.
In my case, I got my mattress within 2 working days, and I remind you that I am based in Sydney. The box arrived in good condition, and I was well-informed about every step of the process. The courier was very helpful, and my overall experience with them was great.
Can I try this mattress at home?
