After trying the Noa Luxe mattress, I was really curious to see what they did here. They decided to create one pillow that is available in 3 different firmness options. This way they cover every type of sleeper and it’s a clever approach. For this review, I chose the Medium one so you should have this in mind. The pillow measures 50x75cm so it’s a large one. It comes with free delivery which usually takes between 2-5 working days. I got mine almost 3 weeks ago so it’s time now to move to the full review below.

Construction

When designing the Noa pillow, they wanted to make an eco-friendly ‘down pillow’ so they decided to use hypoallergenic microfibre fill. To create 3 pillow variations, they used a different amount of fill which can range from 675g/sm for the soft one to 810g/sm for the firm pillow. The medium’s density is 750g/sm. All materials used here follow the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 which suggests that this pillow can’t harm the human body. The microfibre fill is quite breathable so the Noa pillow will stay cool during the night. All pillows are crafted in Portugal by one of the oldest textile factories in the country (est. 1921). Cover

The cover of the Noa pillow is made of 100% cotton. They use a sateen weave here which gives a luxury character to this pillow. They chose cotton because it’s naturally breathable and it feels soft. The design is a very simple one and I think they should have added some colour. Plain white seems quite boring to me to be honest. If you want to clean it, the maker suggests you use a commercial specialist so you should have this in mind. Overall, the cover does the job here and it neither impressed me nor disappointed me.

Support

I am a combo sleeper so I decided to go for the Medium choice which I thought would best suit me. After sleeping with it for some time, I realised that maybe I should have gone for the Soft one, simply because I tend to sleep more on my stomach. Having said that, I still found the Medium choice to be very comfortable and the overall support was great. However, opposite to what I initially thought, I think that Noa should have taken another approach here and they should have created an adjustable pillow. After all, this is one benefit of microfibres, you can remove and add back in quite easily. Overall, the pillow performed well and I think it’s a good choice but you have to make sure that you get the right one for your needs.

Is the Noa pillow for me?

This is a difficult question to answer but I guess I have to, now that I am about to complete this Noa pillow review. I think that this is a good down alternative and if you want a very affordable pillow this is a great choice. On the other hand, you need to make sure that you choose right but at this price, you can even try to get a couple of them. It’s not the best pillow I have tried but it’s a good quality one and it comes at a very affordable price.

To make it waterproof, they added a polyurethane lining which does a great job with any type of liquid. The fabric used here follows the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 which means that it’s free of harmful substances. Noa used Tencel because it’s breathable but also naturally hypoallergenic. Just like all their bedding, this protector is manufactured in Portugal by a traditional textile maker. That means you should expect a high-quality piece of bedding. If you want to clean it, you can use your washing machine at 40 degrees so it’s easy to maintain. Overall, this is a well-made protector which is what I expected from a company like Noa.

Trial period & Delivery

All Noa mattress protectors come with Free Delivery which usually takes between 2-5 days. This of course depends on your postcode so for me it was only 2 working days as I live in Sydney. The process was straightforward and the courier was prompt and polite. Overall, it was a very good service so I have no complaints here. Unfortunately, there is no trial period for this protector mainly due to hygienic reasons. This is understandable as it’s rare to see bedding products having a trial period.

Pricing

If you are looking for an affordable protector, the Noa one is a great option. The Queen size goes for $89 with the King selling for $99. Unfortunately, there are only two sizes available so the options are limited. I hope this changes in the near future.

Is the Noa mattress protector for me?

This is the question that I will try to answer now that I am about to complete this Noa mattress protector review. I think that this is a great option and I was really impressed by the value I got for my money. It’s made of Tencel, it’s waterproof and it costs a fraction of what you would pay to get another protector. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable way to prolong their mattress life.

• An adaptive transition foam layer that is designed to provide outstanding motion isolation. This helps with the annoying partner disturbance.
• A layer made of pocket springs that is the base of this mattress. This layer features a clever zoned system which is designed to support the more demanding areas of your body like your hips and shoulders. The springs also add bounce and comfort.
• A high-density foam encasement which is designed to offer great edge support. It’s 9cm thick and it’s a great addition to this premium mattress.

The Noa Luxe mattress is 31cm in height so you should expect a thick one. In the picture below, you can have a better look at what it looks like from the inside.

What is the cover made of?

When you are designing a premium mattress, you need to make sure that the cover you use is a high-quality one. That is why they decided to use Tencel here and in my opinion, this is a great choice. For those that you might have never heard of this material, Tencel is made of wood pulp and it has a number of advantages when compared to polyester. Firstly, it has the ability to repel odours and it’s a very breathable material. Secondly, it has the ability to regulate heat efficiently and it can dry very quickly. Finally, it’s naturally antibacterial and has anti-dust mite properties. All these reasons make this an excellent choice for a premium mattress like the Noa Luxe.

The design of the cover is a contemporary one and I personally like it. It features a two-tone colourway with the top part being white and the side part being dark grey. The cover feels soft and it looks premium. Overall, this is a great one and I think they did a great job here.

How firm is the Noa Luxe mattress?

I would like now to continue writing this Noa Luxe mattress review and talk about its firmness. This mattress is a medium-firm mattress that feels closer to the firmer side of things. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say this is a 7 with 10 being really firm. Let’s see now how this mattress performed in the different sleeping positions.

Starting from the back position, the mattress adjusted quickly to my body’s weight and the upper foam layers provided my body with pressure relief. I felt well-supported and my spine was aligned properly. Overall, I was very comfortable in this position.

Turning to the side position, the springs adjusted quickly and I felt that my spine was in good form. The feel of this mattress allows it to perform well in all sleeping positions which makes it a great choice for combo sleepers. Support was good in the side position and the Noa Luxe did a good job.

Finally, moving to the stomach position, the zoned system worked well to provide my hips and shoulders with support. Pressure relief was adequate and I felt that this mattress would suit people who like to sleep on their stomachs.

If you share your bed with a partner, the adaptive transition foam layer does a great job so you won’t feel the annoying partner disturbance. In addition, the edge support is great and you will get the same performance across the 4 corners of the mattress.

What type of bed should I use with this mattress?

If you buy this mattress, you don’t need a special setup. That means that you can use your old bed frame or even your floor. Having said that, I would advise you to use a slatted frame or a box spring. If you use slats, make sure that the distance between them is not longer than 7cm.

Is this a boxed mattress?

I have already mentioned above that the Noa Luxe mattress is a boxed one. They usually ship their mattresses within 3-7 business days. I live in Sydney so I got mine after 4 days. The service was great and they contacted me for my delivery details via text and email. The courier was prompt and polite and overall, I had a great experience with them.

Will the Noa Luxe mattress come with a trial period?

Every Noa mattress comes with a 100-night trial period which will give you more than 3 months to try this mattress and decide later whether you want to keep it or not. Before I complete this Noa Lite mattress review, I need to talk about its feel. This mattress was designed to suit people who like a mattress on the firmer side. If I use my virtual scale here, I would say this is a 7.5 with 10 being really firm. This is definitely one of the firmer mattresses I have reviewed. I would like now to talk about the different sleeping positions and how this mattress performed.

Starting from the back position, the sleeping surface felt firm but in a good way. The pocket springs supported my body and my spine was aligned correctly. The mattress felt comfortable in this position and I didn’t feel stuck inside this mattress.

Turning to the side position, the springs adjusted quickly but I felt that sinkage was not enough for my spine to align properly. Firm mattresses are usually not ideal for this position and the Noa Lite falls into this category. Having said that, it wasn’t that bad but I think a softer mattress would do a better job here.

Finally, moving to the stomach position the mattress did an excellent job overall. The firm sleeping surface provided my body with excellent support and my spine was aligned properly. If you are a stomach sleeper, this is a mattress you should definitely consider.

If you have a partner, the Noa Lite can be a good option as the adaptive transition foam layer reduces motion transfer. Moreover, the edge support is great and this is due to the use of the foam encasement.
